This chapter introduces basic concepts and knowledge of decentralized techniques, cryptographic primitives, and techniques for constructing highly efficient data structures. These techniques and primitives, serving as fundamental preliminary knowledge and building blocks, are extensively utilized in subsequent chapters. They are crucial for achieving decentralized privacy preservation in smart cities.
