Control Policy Topologies and Dynamic Programming Methods in Decentralized Stochastic Control

In this chapter, which is companion to the previous Chap. 4 , towards our theme on arriving at optimal solutions and their various properties, we adopt a control topologies approach. To this end, we introduce several topologies on decision/control strategies, for which information structures determine whether a particular topology is useful in arriving at analytical and computational methods as well as existence, compactness or approximation results.
