Carbon-Derived Materials

Carbon is an element found abundantly in the Earth’s crust and in the human body. Various bonding capabilities enabled it to form so many different varieties of compounds, including many gases, liquids, and solids. These constitute nutrients, energy sources, and building materials for plants and many molecules in the body. Since all living species are hydrocarbon-based, carbon is basically the element of life if water is the molecule of life. Carbons are made of one element, and their production process is different from the commercially available ceramics since the melting temperature of carbon is very high.
