Formulating A Business of Dog Training

  • Theovoulos Koutsopoulos

摘要

The focus of this chapter is three-fold. The first part presents some important issues representing the dog training framework, which is related to the trainer-owner-dog triptych, a basic component of the HCS concept, namely: the nature of dog training; the behavior and the role of the dog handler; the overall behavior of the trainer that greatly influences training; and the role of the relationship between Humans and Dog in achieving a successful training. The second part presents a series of advice and tips for starting and keep operating a dog training business including: the fundamental question if dog training is appropriate for everyone; the negative factors that are associated with dog training; approaches to achieve a successful training business; and a series of qualifications a successful trainer/kennel owner has to possess. The last part is focused on the necessary business issues a trainer needs in order to start a dog training business, which include: the steps to start his business; determining his training niche (not all trainers can have the expertise in all training types); choosing the correct business location; estimate all costs involved; the necessity of a business plan; and several tips for a successful promotion and marketing of the business.
