摘要

In this paper we carried out studies using numerical approach for the NACA 0018 symmetric profile. Numerical forecast were performed applying the Ansys Fluent 2022R1 software package. The ultimate aim is to achieve the lift required to keep an aircraft in the air. Although profile manufacture with proper angle of incidence and application has an important effect on lift force. Deficient lift force could cause the aircraft to decline, mainly at high speeds. Current technologies use various simulation approach to skip costly testing of models, but simulation is established on certain assumptions. In this paper the experimental and numerical analysis of NACA 0018 at distinct angles of incidence and airspeeds by determining the aerodynamic forces is studied. The numerical analysis is performed using ANSYS Fluent, noting that the usefulness of CFD greatly diminish the global investment and design effort of the profiles. We conducted a study on airflow around the symmetric profile NACA 0018, which is considered to be an established profile, as it is the basis of aerodynamic studies to simulate airflow at different preset conditions. This profile has been the basis for aerodynamic developments to increase aerospace performance. The whole process of modelling and simulating the profile at different angles of incidence is investigated. The project mainly focuses on the simulation of the airflow around the profile and its validation through wind tunnel testing.
