Neurology is a field that deals with disorders of the nervous system. Neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, may be associated with dermatological manifestations such as bullous pemphigoid, hidradenitis suppurativa, psoriasis, skin cancer, cutaneous amyloidosis, seborrheic dermatitis, rosacea, melanoma, nonmelanoma skin cancer, and hyperhidrosis. Defining these skin manifestations offers clues to the diagnoses and subsequent management of the disorders. Both the nervous system and skin are derived from embryonic ectoderm, suggesting a possible association between pathological causes and its neurological and skin manifestations as shown in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
