Mycosis Fungoides (Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma)
摘要
Mycosis fungoides (MF), a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, arises when the skin is infiltrated by malignant T lymphocytes. Symptoms often mimic common, benign skin diseases such as psoriasis, eczema, or atopic dermatitis, leading to delayed diagnosis and treatment. The cause of MF is unknown, but most individuals diagnosed with MF possess certain chromosomal abnormalities, including the loss or gain of genetic material. Despite being the most prevalent form of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL), current treatment modalities are mostly palliative in nature, with therapeutic goals focusing on symptom management and quality of life improvement. Three variants of MF, folliculotropic MF, pagetoid reticulosis, and granulomatous slack skin, present additional unique challenges in diagnosis and treatment. The onset of MF typically occurs in older adults and has shown prevalence for men more than women. This chapter offers healthcare providers guidance on the diagnosis, treatment, and unique needs of older adults diagnosed with MF.
