Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma
摘要
Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma is a malignant proliferation of keratinocytes within the epithelium that is believed to be related to a combination of risk factors. Among these, advanced age, male gender, light eye color and skin type, exposure to ultraviolet radiation, human papillomavirus infection, and immunosuppression are frequently cited. Individuals aged 65 and older make up the largest portion of reported cases of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma by a wide margin. This population faces unique challenges, including limited mobility, multiple comorbidities, diminished wound healing capabilities, and social isolation, which need to be considered when pursuing treatment. While surgical management is the standard of care, exceptions often need to be made for geriatric patients to reduce morbidity and maintain function.
