Benign Vascular Lesions

This chapter will discuss benign vascular lesions, with an emphasis on those that are most prevalent in the geriatric population. The epidemiology, etiology, pathogenesis, and histopathology of each lesion is discussed. Each lesion’s presentation is discussed in detail, as most are diagnosed clinically. The focus of this chapter will be on spider telangiectasia, cherry angioma, pyogenic granuloma, actinic and senile purpura, venous lake, angiokeratoma, and glomus tumor. The management of benign vascular lesions is specific for each type. The most common treatments include laser therapy, sclerotherapy, and cryotherapy.
