摘要

“Geriatric sarcoidosis” serves to provide a general overview of sarcoidosis in older adults. Patients 65 and older diagnosed with sarcoidosis are known to have elderly- onset sarcoidosis, or EOS. This chapter discusses the epidemiology, comorbidities, skin manifestations, risk factors, and treatments of EOS. Clinical presentation is covered in- depth, with an emphasis on how skin lesion subtypes may be similar or different in this population versus younger patients. Diagnostic tools continue to change over time, and clinical presentation remains crucial in understanding the disease. Since research is ongoing for EOS, diagnosis and treatment remains a unique challenge. EOS prevalence continues to rise and healthcare professionals can reference “geriatric sarcoidosis” as a tool in future patient care.
