摘要

Rice is a staple food in Malaysia where people consume the grain daily either as cooked rice or indirectly in the form of rice flour. The way of cultivation of rice in Malaysia still uses traditional irrigation methods compared to other agricultural sector. Using this method, the farmers will have to manually monitor the water level constantly, especially during heavy rainfall. This excess of water level can increase pest and disease infestations, lowering crop productivity. As the water level is very crucial in paddy field irrigation, this project developed an automated irrigation system for farmers in a pre-saturation phase. For the early phase, 3–4 inch water is needed in the paddy field so if the water is less than that it will pump out and notify it on the farmer’s mobile phone through the application while if the water is excess of 4.5 inches it will notify the farmer only and the alarm will ring for 10 s. This project uses ESP8266 as the microcontroller and sensor to detect the water level. The project allows farmers to monitor and control the excess water level in the paddy field as well as control the water pump using a mobile.
