摘要

The project that has been developed is about diabetes and insulin intake for children. The project is based on three-dimensional (3D) augmented reality (AR) technology through a mobile application designed to expose children with diabetes to the procedure of taking insulin for self-treatment. The problem statement leads to the determination of the researcher to continue the research in that most children diagnosed with diabetes have a lack of awareness or knowledge about the disease including the importance of having normal blood sugar levels. The majority of children are less exposed to augmented reality applications as a source of their knowledge. The objectives of the study are to identify the need for innovative solutions for diabetes insulin intake from children through the AR platform; to develop an AR mobile application that provides diabetes insulin intake information among children in Malaysia; and to evaluate the effectiveness of the Diabetes Insulin Intake AR mobile application among children in Malaysia. The AR mobile application is accessible to Android users, and it is aimed at children with type 1 diabetes aged between 4 and 12 years. The ADDIE model will be used to create the AR mobile application, and Unity will be used to implement all the content. According to the results collected through quantitative analysis, respondents strongly agreed with the content and design of AR mobile applications that are effective for diabetes insulin intake among children. In conclusion, this study will contribute to children’s learning about diabetes insulin intake through AR mobile applications and also for designers and researchers for their development and research.
