The Importance of Urban Culture as a Middle Ground Between State and Ethnic Minorities in Negotiating (Im)mobilities: The London Context

  • Shamea Y. Mia

摘要

This chapter considers the complexities of class, gender, cultural dynamics and cultural change within an urban context, as well as the positions people occupy or come to occupy. This chapter also explores issues around technological spaces, communication and digital spaces and freedoms as well as the impact of belonging to local social networks (rather than to, say, communities) and issues around elasticity in social systems and overarching structural systems (the macro, meso and micro) that partly shape our interactions with institutions.
