Some Remarks on the Virtual Element Method for the Linear Elasticity Problem in Mixed Form

The Virtual Element Methods for the linear elasticity problems are considered, in the framework of the Hellinger–Reissner variational principle. After having reviewed some 2D schemes already studied in the literature, an augmented Lagrangian formulation is introduced, with the aim at designing a method with a minimal number of local degrees of freedom. Several numerical results are presented.
