摘要

Despite the significant progress in reducing the burden of heart disease, the incidence of heart failure (HF) continues to increase and is now the third most common heart condition. Evidence supports that HF, like other forms of cardiovascular disease is largely preventable. This chapter discusses the most common risk factors for developing HF, attempts to describe the pathophysiologic changes that precede the development of symptoms, differentiates HF from other cardiovascular conditions affecting the myocardium, and provide strategies for the promotion of adherence with the American Heart Association’s Life’s Essential 8 with those in Stage A and B HF.
