摘要

Excessive use of alcohol and any amount of tobacco increases a person’s risk of developing cardiovascular disease and experiencing a heart attack or stroke. However, behaviors like substance use that impact health are often influenced by other factors, including age, ethnicity, and sexual identity. In-depth understandings of how such factors are linked to tobacco, alcohol, and substance use can support healthcare providers in offering evidence-based strategies to reduce patient risk for cardiovascular disease.
