Pedestrian Introduction

We define the elementary bricks from which all color graphs named birdtracks can be constructed, and derive pictorial expressions of the Fierz identity and the \(\textrm{SU}(N)\) Lie algebra. Using these identities, we obtain once and for all a set of simple pictorial rules, which will be used repeatedly throughout this brief.
