Some Basic Knowledge

This chapter introduces some fundamental concepts in fluid dynamics, including the Navier–Stokes equations (NS equations) and the Orr-Sommerfeld (Orr, 1907a, 1907b; Sommerfeld, 1908) equations. The NS equations serve as the governing equations for fluid flow, describing the relationship between fluid motion and the forces acting upon it.
