Integrated System Approach for Peer-Peer Energy Trading

Peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading platforms have gained significant attention in recent years, attracting engineers, utilities, and prosumers. Advancements in associated technologies have further accelerated the shift towards dynamic, consumer-centric, distributed electricity grid management. In this chapter, we present three integrated system approaches for P2P trading: A market solution based on blockchain and smart metering infrastructure, a trading mechanism based on the NRG-X-Change algorithm, and a fuzzy logic paradigm to enhance the robustness, simplicity, and flexibility of prosumer switching between P2P and Grid connections. We discuss the advantages and disadvantages of these approaches and provide simulation results showcasing their potential to maximize trading profits and optimize grid electricity usage. This study offers valuable insights into prosumers’ decision-making processes and contributes to the knowledge base of P2P energy trading.
