Tumors of the Pineal Region
摘要
Chapter 14 provides a detailed exploration of tumors of the pineal region. This chapter covers a range of tumors such as pineal parenchymal tumor of intermediate differentiation (PPTID), papillary tumor of the pineal region, and pineal cysts. It offers insights into their definition, epidemiology, pathology, molecular genetics, etiology, and clinical presentation. It further addresses staging and classification, diagnostic procedures, and various treatment options and considerations. The critical aspects of recurrence, follow-up, and prognosis are also discussed. Furthermore, the chapter covers other relevant conditions associated with the pineal region including Parinaud’s syndrome, pineal regional metastases, and pineal apoplexy. This chapter serves to facilitate a well-structured approach to understanding and managing pineal region tumors in the field of surgical neuro-oncology.
