Transformation of Supply Chains in the Context of Industry 4.0

摘要

Globalization processes and scientific and technological progress lead to changes in business development. This requires restructuring the supply chains. These changes are driven by rapidly changing consumer expectations and growing competition in the market. Therefore, to maintain the ability to compete in national and global markets and to deliver innovative, customer-centric products, companies must undergo digital transformations that improve productivity. All the more so that, according to [1], the importance of the industrial revolution is not only a historical event that is the most important in human history, but also a constantly shaping factor of the modern world. This statement is supported by identify Industry 4.0 as a revolution defined as a new level of organization and value chain of the entire product life cycle focused on increasingly individualized customer needs. Taking this into account, it is necessary to adjust the specifics of modern supply chains in the context of Industry 4.0, which would create conditions for applying sufficiently innovative and highly efficient mechanisms for each entity. This study aims to evaluate the impact of Industry 4.0 on the speed of transformation of supply chains. The results showed that the implementation of innovations has the most significant influence on improving supply chains and helps to maintain the operation of an efficient production supply chain.
