Challenges and Opportunities for Soil Carbon Sequestration
摘要
Climate change is a global concern and soil organic carbon sequestration is a good strategy for mitigation. Carbon neutrality goals set by different countries still face a lot of challenges to minimize the carbon emission pathways. Soil carbon budgeting for progressing toward low-carbon development has multiple benefits besides addressing food security. However, to document the practical progress, we have to overcome sequestration challenges in field conditions. This chapter is a glimpse of the issues and management opportunities in terrestrial carbon sequestration. The adoption of a robust framework to achieve global commitments and climate governance will suppress the high carbon emission processes. We need to put more effort into strengthening the regulatory framework to monitor the changes in soil carbon stocks over time.
