How to Stimulate Cognitive, Emotional, and Behavioral Skills in the Clinical Context? General Guidelines to Therapists
摘要
This chapter addresses the stimulation of children and adolescents’ cognitive, emotional, and behavioral skills in the clinical context. Neuropsychological rehabilitation performed in the clinical context seeks to promote active changes in cognitive, behavioral, and emotional skills, aiming to improve performance in daily activities. The therapist, in turn, must have skills such as planning, organization, cognitive flexibility, creativity, and theoretical and practical knowledge to promote a neuropsychological intervention. In addition, it is important to consider patients’ individual demands and promote a safe and organized therapeutic environment. The clinical intervention work must be organized, constantly evaluated, and involve family participation. The author reports that there are challenges in the practice of neuropsychological intervention and that it is important to align expectations, involve the family, and seek neuroplasticity through meaningful experiences.
