Polarization-Reconfigurable Origami Antennas
摘要
Due to their fixed operating frequencies and radiation patterns, conventional antennas may limit system performance in applications that require dynamic and flexible radiation patterns, such as radar, satellite communication, and mobile networks. Polarization-reconfigurable antennas can overcome this limitation by adapting to changing system requirements or environmental conditions. They can switch between different polarization modes, such as linear, circular, and elliptical polarization, on demand. This makes them ideal for use in modern communication systems, where antennas with switchable polarization are required. Origami technology offers a promising solution for creating polarization-reconfigurable antennas. By folding and unfolding origami structures, it is possible to dynamically change the antenna’s polarization characteristics. This makes origami antennas well suited for use in a variety of demanding applications. In this chapter, we explore the use of origami technology to create polarization-reconfigurable antennas. We discuss the design principles, fabrication methods, and performance of origami antennas inspired by conical spiral and helical geometries and highlight their potential applications in communication systems.
