Venezuelan Migration in Peru: Exploring the Causes for Venezuelans’ Return Migration
摘要
This chapter explores potential causes of return of Venezuelan immigrants in Peru, especially focusing on the conflictive migratory policies led by different Peruvian administrations as well as xenophobic attitudes towards Venezuelan migrants. It also explores the efforts that President Maduro is leading to ease the safe return of Venezuelan migrants. Lastly, the chapter also discusses how return migration has been implemented by other authoritarian regimes in the Latin American region; and how it compares to the Venezuelan government’s effort to attract their citizens back to their home country.
