Final Word

Outreach Astronomy is key to informing the public. My goal is to maximize the effectiveness of outreach efforts by “professionalizing” what we do as informal educators. This can only be accomplished by understanding how learning occurs, what children are being taught in school, and how to augment what formal and informal educational organizations are doing. Working with teachers, librarians, museum staff, and like-minded people at youth serving organizations, offers opportunities to reach a wide audience and raise science literacy.
