The Science of Outreach

Methodologies used in Formal Education are not an exact science, but are based upon the results of decades of research in the field of psychology. Like all sciences, however, its practices improve over time. Research conducted by psychologists over the past 200 years has shaped how educators teach children today. Understanding how people learn and knowing how to help them is key to being an effective Outreach Astronomer.
