Integration of Blockchain and the Physical Internet: A Review and Future Prospects
摘要
This review paper explores the potential intersection of two transformative technologies - blockchain and the Physical Internet - and their prospective impacts on logistics and supply chain management. Blockchain technology, known for its decentralization, transparency, and security, has found applications in various sectors, from finance to supply chain management. The Physical Internet represents a conceptual model for logistics operations that promotes efficiency and sustainability through the interconnection and standardization of logistic components. The convergence of these two technologies could significantly revolutionize the supply chain and logistics sectors, fostering enhanced transparency, improved efficiency, and elevated security. This review develops the principles of these technologies, explores their potential synergies through various case studies, and addresses the anticipated challenges that could arise from their integration. A framework is proposed combining Physical Internet and blockchain. The paper concludes by casting a look towards the future, examining the prospective implications of a successful merger between blockchain technology and the Physical Internet.
