Stainless Steel Crack Detection Based on MATLAB

Crack detection plays a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of stainless steel structures, and also provides sufficient information for subsequent stainless steel welding, so efficient detection of cracks is essential. The methods usually used to detect cracks include manual inspection, liquid penetration testing and ultrasonic testing. The most common detection method is through manual inspection, which makes the process of manual crack detection very time-consuming and laborious due to the presence of a large amount of interfering information in the crack picture. In order to solve the problems such as unclear crack identification that may be faced by manual inspection, this study uses image processing techniques to create an efficient crack detection system. The system includes steps such as image grayscaling, image enhancement, image denoising, image binarization crack recognition and GUI design. Through these steps, automatic measurement of crack features such as width, length, area and direction is realized.
