Structure, Role, and Promotion of Metacognitive Modelling Strategies: Theoretical Derivations and Empirical Findings
摘要
The crucial roles of metacognitive strategies in modelling processes and in developing modelling competencies have not been questioned in the international discussion on modelling. However, in contrast to its assumed importance, little empirical knowledge exists about the structure of metacognitive strategies for mathematical modelling and the use of these strategies in the modelling process. Furthermore, the question has been raised as to how the use of these specific strategies by students can be promoted. Thus, this chapter presents theoretical derivations and empirical results on the domain-specific structure and role of metacognitive modelling strategies in the modelling process. In addition, it summarises the results of a study on the promotion of metacognitive modelling strategies.
