摘要

Mathematical modelling cannot only be performed inside the classroom, but also outdoors: working on so-called math trails, students solve mathematical tasks directly at real-world objects. These modelling activities can be supported by mobile apps like MathCityMap, which provides hints, app feedback, and a sample solution. Even though recent studies have focused on outdoor modelling processes, the students’ interaction with the mobile app is not sufficiently investigated. The present chapter, following a mixed-methods design, aims to contribute to this research gap. It shows that the hints can clearly support students to find an adequate solution. The app feedback motivates students to rework their task, i.e. performing another modelling cycle. However, the sample solution cannot fulfil its intended role as explanatory feedback as it is hardly accessed by the students.
