Regenerative Ecosystem for Sustainable Livelihood: A Study on Tribal Women Street Vendors in Dimapur, Nagaland

Street vendingStreet vending is a global phenomenon and is the most visible part of the informal sectorInformal sector. Vendors occupy space on the pavements, in public and private areas, or move from place to place carrying their goods. Supporting the development of interdependent actions creates a better entrepreneurial ecosystemEcosystem for tribal women street vendors and improves their quality of lifeQuality of life. A regenerative ecosystemEcosystem restores the livelihoodLivelihood of tribal women street vendors and improves productivity. The objectives of the study are to portray the problems faced by the tribal women street vendors and to understand the support system and regenerative ecosystemsEcosystem of tribal women street vendors for livelihoodLivelihood sustainabilitySustainability in Dimapur, Nagaland. The present study applied qualitative methods using case studies and in-depth interviews for the collection of data. Tribal women are engaged in street vendingStreet vending across the state of Nagaland for livelihoodLivelihood means to support families. They are continuously interacting with existing ecosystemsEcosystem, yet without depleting them. Despite the struggles and challenges for a sustainable livelihoodLivelihood, they are persistent in caring for their ecosystemEcosystem and in retaining it to regenerate effectively.
