Tibbles
摘要
In early 1905 Edith and Kate rented a tumbledown cottage, Tibbles (= Theobald’s Green), near Edenbridge, Kent. As this chapter suggests, Edith was probably as happy there as she ever would be. She loved restoring the cottage and working in its garden. She was liked and respected in the village. She learned to rub brass. She had her beloved dog Conn and cat Ira D. Sankey, Esq. Kate was there at weekends. And friends visited, not least Furnivall. Edith and Kate would retain Tibbles after they went their separate ways in 1909, but Edith never returned.
