摘要

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a rare and debilitating neurodegenerative disorder that affects motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. It leads to the progressive degeneration of these neurons, resulting in muscle weakness, loss of motor function, and, eventually, paralysis. Monitoring the progression of ALS is critical for timely interventions and personalized care. In recent years, eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) has emerged as a powerful tool in the field of ALS monitoring and management. ALS is a highly heterogeneous disease, meaning it manifests differently in each patient. Some individuals may experience rapid progression, while others have a slower course. Monitoring this variability and tailoring interventions accordingly is where XAI can make a substantial impact.
