Introduction

This introductory chapter provides an overview of, and background for, the content of the book. In the next chapter, we will start to look at Gretl and R, with a focus on installation and loading datasets, as well as some simple tools for descriptive statistics. I will then include the use of Gretl and R in each chapter in connection to the topics presented, to demonstrate how we can perform various analyses.
