Adverse Outcome Pathways and Their Relevance
摘要
This chapter aims to define AOP and the use in ecotox research and regulatory context. With increasing chemical development and research, there is a need to identify a fast and efficient method to identify newly added chemical ecotoxicological effect on a wide range of species. With computing capabilities nowadays, this becomes possible with predictive modeling approach integrated with adverse outcome pathways (AOPs). AOP can take biomolecular-chemical interaction event in consideration that can later help in identifying key events from molecular- to tissue-level responses. Based on these responses, adverse outcome can be identified that can be based on organismal to population-level responses. To make AOP accessible, most recently, AOP-Wiki is created, which is an open-source repository to input such information.
