Family Caregiver Cancer Care

This chapter includes three case studies in FC cancer care. The first story depicts an ideal patient/FC relationship. The second story shows the benefits of building a relationship with the FC that ultimately improves patient outcomes. The third story conveys the hardships FCs face and how unaddressed caregiver burden contributes to poorer patient outcomes. In all instances, nurses need to evaluate FCs to know if their care for the patient is achieving the right results and if not, intervene.
