Teaching Family Caregivers About Cancer Treatments
摘要
This chapter will focus on the role of the nurse, as a nurse navigator, educator, coach, and role model for not only the patient undergoing cancer care with chemotherapy but for their family caregiver (FC) as well. The cancer care continuum is challenging for all involved in caring for the patient and especially during COVID-19. Throughout this chapter, I will identify opportunities for nurses to assist and overcome these challenges to provide optimal support for FCs to ensure quality patient outcomes and FC satisfaction. This chapter’s story includes an additional factor—a cancer patient who is 33 weeks (about 7 and a half months) pregnant.
