Difficult and Unusual Wounds

摘要

Particular sites on the body and certain causes or mechanisms of injury give rise to wounds that are somewhat unique or troublesome. The treatment of several of these wound scenarios is described in this chapter. Other unhealthy wounds may be behaving badly because of underlying diseases or co-morbidities. Not uncommonly, several adverse factors may be combined in the same wound. Modern war wounds have their own specific challenges and are briefly considered by an expert in the commentary. Although Dr. Joan Chapple did not cover this topic in her original manuscript, the co-editors believe it is now a consideration of significant relevance and cannot be ignored, given the mass war casualties of both soldiers and civilians in various parts of the globe in recent times.
