A Novel Biometric Authentication Based on Blockchain and Watermarking
摘要
After analysing the security threats and solution of existing authentication systems, this paper proposes a biometric authentication based on fingerprint, using both invisible digital watermarking and blockchain technology. During the enrolment process, an invisible digital watermark is applied to add an imperceptible digital signature to the fingerprint image, allowing its authenticity and integrity. In addition, the blockchain technology is also integrated into the system to provide a decentralized and immutable ledger where biometric data is securely stored, guaranteeing integrity (preventing data falsification), authenticity, availability, trust and reliability. Hence, by combining digital watermarking and blockchain technology, our biometric authentication system offers a high level of security and reliability by preventing fraudulent attacks, detecting data alterations, ensuring confidentiality (protection of personal information), avoiding a trusted third party or a centralized storage system, and finally, enhancing the auditability and accountability. Our system is implemented and its evaluation proves resistance to attacks without affecting performances.
