Sympathicolytics
摘要
Sympatholytic agents include molecules that decrease noradrenergic transmission through two possible actions: blocking postsynaptic noradrenergic receptors—these are the beta-blockers—and decreasing noradrenaline release from the presynaptic neuron—these are the alpha2-agonists. This section will detail one beta-blocker propranolol and two alpha2-agonists: clonidine and dexmedetomidine. Dexmedetomidine was the only licensed veterinary medication in this drugs family, it was recently joined by tasipimidine.
