Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
摘要
Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) inhibit the degradation of monoamine neurotransmitters (noradrenaline, serotonin, and dopamine) in the synaptic cleft, thereby increasing the amount available to membrane receptors. There are two types of MAOIs, referred to as MAOI-A and MAOI-B. Each type is distinguished by its particular action on monoamine neurotransmitters. Selegiline, under the name Selgian®, is the only licensed veterinary MAOI-B medication.
