Attachment Axis Disorders

In this chapter, we describe psychiatric disorders related to a dysregulation of the attachment axis. We distinguish various autonomy-related disorders: autonomy disorder due to lack of detachment, autonomy disorder due to rupture of attachment, and secondary autonomy disorder. Finally, we describe a dysfunctional attachment syndrome, which encompasses disorders in which attachment either does not occur or is of poor quality. For each disorder, we provide detailed information on clinical picture, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and follow-up, and clinical cases are included to enhance the text.
