Overview of Feedback and Impact on Learners
摘要
Just as professionals in a workplace are evaluated and provided feedback, healthcare profession students must be afforded the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge. Authentic feedback is defined as “feedback processes that resemble the feedback practices of the discipline, profession, or workplace” (Dawson et al., 2020, p. 2). Authentic feedback has various implications to consider. Authentic learning must be coupled with authentic feedback, which translates into knowledge directly transferable to a learner’s future profession. A crucial skill for healthcare profession students is the ability to utilize feedback efficiently in their profession and as they develop relationships with colleagues and patients (Winstone & Carless, 2019). Authentic feedback acts as the catalyst to progress the healthcare profession student from novice to master.
