Light Pollution: Developing an Evaluation System and Proposing Treatment Strategies—Based on Entropy Weight Method

Light pollution, a relatively recent form of environmental pollution, has emerged alongside traditional sources such as exhaust gases, wastewater, waste residues, and noise. The study highlights the adverse consequences of light pollution resulting from rapid urbanization and economic development, emphasizing the pressing need for scientific evaluation and control measures. Firstly, through the comprehensive analysis of sleep quality, air quality biological satisfaction, glare control level, degree of photo invasion and brightness, the risk level of light pollution was determined using the entropy weight method to develop a widely applicable comprehensive evaluation index model. Secondly, the risk level of light pollution is calculated by applying the above model to Guangdong Province, China, analyzing the differences from factors such as economic development level, population, vegetation coverage, and light intensity. Thirdly, three intervention strategies to address light pollution are developed based on established indicators. The relationship between light pollution and population density and GDP per capita factors were analyzed, and then fitted two linear functions to establish an evaluation model of light pollution treatment. Finally, the model was further used to analyze the potential impact of intervention strategies on light pollution in a certain area.
