Characteristics of VOCs Pollution and Health Risk Assessment in a Typical Chemical Industry Park of Summer

To investigate the pollution characteristics of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the surrounding regions of typical chemical parks, the vicinity of a petrochemical park, four sampling sites of typical chemical parks were selected as research objects to explore the characteristics of atmospheric VOCs pollution, VOCs characteristic species, ozone generation potential and human health risks in the surrounding regions of chemical parks. The monitoring results showed that the total mass concentration of VOCs in the atmosphere in the surrounding area of the chemical industry park ranged from 48.2 × 10–9 to 2595 × 10–9. Halogenated hydrocarbons accounted for the highest concentration of VOCs at A point (68.8%), alkynes (70.9%, 43.9%) at B point and C point, and oxygenated VOCs (OVOCs) accounted for the highest concentration of VOCs at D point (27.7%). Acetylene and vinyl chloride were the top two components contributing to VOCs in the atmosphere at the four observation sites. The ozone generating potential (OFP) of point A was the largest, and the OFP of point D was the smallest. In addition, the largest OFP species of A, B and C was alkyne and its contribution rate was 76.2%, 94.8% and 75.8%, respectively. The highest contribution rate OFP of point D was aromatic hydrocarbon (30.9%). Finally, the atmosphere of 4 observation sites had potential carcinogenic risk to human health, and long-term exposure was easy to cause harm to the health of exposed people.
