The Influence of Biofilm on Bulk Water Quality Pollution in Water Supply Networks
摘要
The process of transporting drinking water from the water treatment plant to users by water supply networks often leads to a problem of water quality pollution. The biofilm on the pipe wall was one of the important reasons which affected water quality. The growth and detachment of biofilm will affect the total number of bacteria and bacterial community in the bulk water, accelerate the decay of residual chlorine, occurrence of colored water, affect the odor and taste of drinking water, and provide stable habitat for opportunistic pathogen. But the biofilm could adsorb contaminants which are in bulk water. It shows that the biofilm in the water supply networks has a dual impact on the water quality. The biofilm control technologies have their own advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, in practical engineering, it is necessary to choose appropriate control technologies to ensure water supply and reduce costs. For the stable transportation of drinking water in the water supply networks, we need to pay more attention to the growth and detachment of biofilm.
