摘要

Submerged plants play a vital role in improving water quality and controlling algal blooms in rivers, serving as the foundation for maintaining aquatic biodiversity. In this review, we explore the functions of submerged plants in water quality purification, allelopathic inhibition of algae, and the mechanisms involved. Further research should focus on the contributions of natural processes, the absorption of filamentous algae, and the effects of plant-associated biofilms on nutrient removal. This study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of submerged plants’ potential for sustainable water quality management.
