Study on the Variation of Bioaerosol Concentration and Influencing Factors at Subway Platforms

As urbanization accelerates globally, subway transportation has become a crucial part of modern cities. This study focuses on the potential risk of bioaerosol transmission in crowded subway platforms. Using the Shanghai subway system as a case study, we monitored the microbial concentration on a specific platform. Our findings indicate that the concentration of cultivable bioaerosols is highest in summer, lowest in winter, and intermediate in autumn. Furthermore, bioaerosol concentration correlates positively with PM2.5, PM10, and relative humidity, and negatively with temperature and CO2. These findings provide insights into air quality management on subway platforms and have potential practical applications in guiding environmental management and public health measures.
