摘要

One of the primary causes of cancer-related deaths among women worldwide is breast cancer (BC). Conventional medical approaches to treating breast cancer have been tried and failed in some cases. As a result of cancer resistance to current therapeutic regimens and their related negative effects, research is progressing toward a new era of virus-based cancer treatment. Due to the variety of applications it has, virotherapy is one of the unique strategies that has received a lot of research. Live oncolytic viruses or viruses that have undergone genetic modification are used in viral therapy to specifically target and infect tumor cells, which then multiply and kill cancerous cells. These viruses also trigger the host’s immune system’s antitumor response, which is how they exert their anticancer effects. To address this issue, this chapter covers the part that viruses play in BC treatment resistance (chemoresistance) as well as cutting-edge techniques including virotherapy and immunotherapies.
